I'm On Containment Duty Devlog 02 - GUI and Models
First 3D models
It’s coming along nicely! SouthOfSun helped me create a beautiful model for the main character in the game and it even is animated! I also started the work on the GUI and dialogue elements. The first anomalies are written, even though not modelled and put in yet, but I am working on the dialogue and scripting itself finally. (What can go wrong at this point, eh? EH?)
But really, having a model that is not just store-bought or downloaded from free 3D model websites is such a nice feeling. It gives the game so much more character. I really hope to be able to avoid the other options as far as possible from now on, but luckily, I am not aiming for a lot of actual characters anyway.
GUI layout
I also finished the general layout you will see most of the time in-game. I went for the same color scheme I already used for the thumbnails and main menu, teal and pink. I know it is not everyone’s taste, but I am just vibing it currently. Ah, and yes, the layout currently is inspired by other GUIs I found, I will change it up as soon as I am certain with colors and box sizes.
Here are two impressions, one with the dialogue closed, one open and with sample text by Johan:
I used a photo reference to draw him, but otherwise everything is handmade by myself. Some elements still need some work and I am not fully done with it, especially for the longer dialogue box (not shown here), but I am pleased with the current look and hope to be able to work it in nicely in the end.
Cheers,
